Since 2021, Peakpounder has been a concept in the back of my mind; an at-the-time intangible testament to the conversion capabilities of a small internal team, the support of a highly capable and vetted collection of industry vendors and shared dedication to cutting out the middle man and overhead fluff in an effort to deliver an affordable turnkey vehicle that anyone could just get in and go.

It was a Covid-induced outlet for two decades of tinkering with all things auto; over the years, nitrous and turbo powered imports turned into 40-inch mud tires anywhere they would fit; subwoofers and air suspension turned into four links and air lockers…

Then came the first ProMaster turnkey build, sold in less than a week at a price point that many forum members said had to be a scam; then another, and another and then a request to build a Sprinter. Then…

Sprinter Reality Set In

Good Lord was it cramped; cool to look at and somewhat fuel efficient but there were issues:

  • Mercedes experience tax at the dealer

  • Diesel + DEF tax at the pump

  • Parts tax for the brand + covid-era scarcity

But mostly, it was just too damn small inside. After the tenth bruised elbow or so, we hit the YouTubes and found our calling.
